Lethal Shooting! When does it run out?
When do shooters stop being able to shoot?
Reggie Miller still doesn’t miss! Look at this!

That’s Lethal Shooter with an Original Lethal Shooter!
“I’m looking for a 10 day!”
- Reggie Miller while most certainly not looking for a 10 day
Never mind the sneaky edit in the middle — the stroke is still there at 60! When do you think that goes away?
You ask any former player and they will tell you never, they could hit 30 in a row right now, and to give them the ball. But that’s different than having the ball in your hands and the video rolling! Michael Jordan said last month he was nervous about shooting a free throw in the driveway for an audience of kids!
When do you think it goes away is the question that keeps the middle aged up at night.
Reggie at 60 just hit 10 straight from 25 feet. Can Larry at 68? Can Rick Barry at 78?! 25 feet is a lot further when it’s arc to hoop instead of bed to bathroom, and even that is frought with risk!
Another question, who do you think is the oldest person in the world who can still dunk? Not Kareem anymore, at 78, right!? 7 foot 2, with 2 feet of reach, you still need to elevate 12 inches, that’s not happening. I’m going with Marques Johnson, 69. The Elder! His birthday dunk every February is one of my favorite parts of the internet.

Keep it going, Marques!
I never could shoot. Growing up and going to basketball camps around New Jersey I’d sit criss cross applesauce listening to the shooting guru of the Northeast, Dave Hopla. There was never a slot I couldn’t find, there was never a ‘one-two"‘ I couldn’t miscount. I’m still trying to understand what Hopla said to look at when he said to shoot behind the front of the rim! There’s nothing behind the front of the rim, just air!
Hopla was a character. I still remember him hitting 50 in a row — or was it 75? —while telling the story of the time he was in a bodega that got held up. When the thief told him to put his hands up, the burglar stopped and said, “Man, you’ve got great shooting form.” (Lethal shooter of a different kind.)
Young me building a brick factory and muttering, ‘if you can shoot so well why aren’t you in the NBA!’
That’s the 10 day contract I want to see given out. Hopla and Lethal Shooter! Let’s really put this to when does it run out to the test!
Reggie Miller’s average 3 point shots attempeed per game for his career was 4.7. That would have been 89th last season (Nikola Jokic actually!). His career high 3PA p/g in a season was 6.6, Malik Monk! He would be a cartoon villain chucking 15 threes a night in today’s game with no conscience for humanity!
10 Players from ye olde days I’d love to see in today’s NBA:
Reggie Miller
Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf
Dražen Petrović
Hersey Hawkins
Mark Price
Arvydas Sabonis
Rasheed Wallace
Dale Ellis
Chuck Person
Pete Maravich

Brian Winters! Watched him play for Nellie (with Sidney! Marques!, Junior! Lanier! Pressey!) that won 50+ games (and 60 once) *seven* consecutive seasons. Shook his hand the night they hung his #43 jersey from the rafters in The Mecca, losing the battle to hold back tears.
p.s. another incredible shooter, Craig Hodges, found his game playing for Nellie in Milwaukee before getting his ring with Michael in Chicago.
